Environmental Monitoring System Challenge: A cost-conscious customer well into the development of a new remote environmental monitoring and logging system desired to add web access, downloading, and numerous other features to the product. System was to be deployed over a wide geographical area. Action: Identifed a commercially-available hardware platform that would meet the project requirements, developed a low-overhead protocol for communication between system elements, and designed user and administrator web pages for controlling and monitoring system functions. Developed hidden debugging pages to permit remote diagnosis of system issues. Result: Created a platform that was cost-effective, as well as highly adaptable to changing and expanding customer requirements.
